What you'll do:

As a Senior Cloud Architect based in Hong Kong, you will be instrumental in driving the evolution of the organisation’s cloud platform services. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with application development teams and governance boards to embed robust architecture principles into every stage of the IT solution lifecycle. You will take ownership of developing detailed reference architectures and frameworks that empower project teams while ensuring compliance with ever-changing security regulations. By staying ahead of technological trends and maintaining strong documentation practices, you will enable seamless adoption of new tools and methodologies. Your ability to foster an inclusive culture—supporting cross-functional collaboration—will be key as you work alongside talented professionals from diverse backgrounds. Through your participation in strategic boards and hands-on involvement with operational teams, you will help set the direction for future-ready cloud platforms that underpin critical business functions.

• Participate actively in application development and governance boards to ensure that Platform as a Service (PaaS) principles, standards, and design patterns are embedded throughout the IT solution lifecycle.
• Evolve existing cloud PaaS solutions by enhancing cloud platform services in support of diverse organisational projects and strategic initiatives.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive cloud platform service architectures including reference models, principles, patterns, templates, use cases, standards, and procedures for use by project teams and operations.
• Monitor changes in the external information security risk landscape—including legislative or regulatory requirements—and recommend enhancements to policies and standards related to cloud platform architecture.
• Stay abreast of advancements in product landscapes, cloud security standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in design to ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of innovation.
• Provide clear documentation and decision logs outlining business and operational benefits to facilitate adoption of new technology and operating models across teams.
• Foster a diverse and inclusive workplace culture by supporting cross-team efforts, modelling collaborative behaviours, and contributing positively to shared goals.
• Collaborate closely with various teams to achieve operational excellence in cloud environments; propose updates to policy, standards, or reference architectures as needed.
• Participate in the Architecture Design Board to ensure all technology projects align with target cloud platform service architectures.

What you bring:

• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Information Technology or related disciplines provides a solid academic foundation for this role.
• At least 10 years’ experience within Information Technology—including 6 years focused on IT infrastructure and cloud technologies—demonstrates your depth of expertise across global or regional environments.
• Proven track record in technical architecture design encompassing API management, containerisation (such as Kubernetes), serverless computing models, content delivery networks (CDN), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CICD), among others.
• Comprehensive understanding of public/private cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure; experience with containers like Kubernetes or Tanzu VMWare; familiarity with Agile methodologies including Scrum, Lean, DevSecOps.
• Hands-on experience with essential tools such as Docker, Git, Jira, Ansible; knowledge of auto-scaling techniques; proficiency in automated testing frameworks.
• Expertise in APIM architecture coupled with fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP, BGP, DNS), load balancing (L3-L7), system monitoring (including real-user monitoring), application performance monitoring.
• Practical skills using provisioning tools like Jenkins, Terraform Cloud or ArgoCD; experience managing cloud operating systems effectively.
• Knowledgeable about database technologies such as MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra or MSSQL enhances your versatility within complex environments.
• Relevant professional certifications—such as AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect—are highly desirable; additional credentials like China Cloud or CISSP are advantageous.
• Outstanding communication abilities (in both English and Chinese) paired with attention to detail; strong commitment to excellence; high levels of collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
