A leading organisation is looking for an AI Portfolio Project Manager to drive day-to-day project management activities across multiple AI initiatives, ensuring the initiatives are delivered on time and with clear outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

As an Associate Director of Portfolio Management for Artificial Intelligence Projects, you will oversee the end-to-end delivery of AI initiatives while fostering alignment across teams.

  • Develop and maintain integrated plans for the AI portfolio, including workstreams, milestones, dependencies, and critical paths across initiatives
  • Establish and manage delivery cadences (e.g., status meetings, RAID reviews, steering committees) to ensure alignment across business units, IT teams, data teams, and vendors
  • Support sprint/iteration planning logistics, release planning, user acceptance testing (UAT), and business readiness timelines in collaboration with the AI Product Owner
  • Track and manage cross-initiative dependencies related to data, platforms, security, architecture, and change management; drive timely resolution of conflicts or delays
  • Oversee day-to-day project delivery activities to ensure effective management of scope, schedule, resources, and deliverables
  • Facilitate governance forums such as project meetings, risk reviews, and steering committee sessions; document actions and decisions for transparency
  • Maintain clear documentation of project plans, RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), decisions made, and key artifacts to support auditability
  • Coordinate with technology teams to manage environment readiness, release activities, cutovers, and post-release hypercare

Candidate profile:

To excel as an Associate Director of Portfolio Management for Artificial Intelligence Projects you will bring extensive experience from IT or digital transformation environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Management or a related field; PMP or PRINCE2 certification is preferred
  • 8+ years in IT/digital transformation project or program management, with AI/ML project experience highly preferred
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira/Azure DevOps or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) as well as traditional Waterfall approaches
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT systems including data platforms (e.g., cloud-based solutions), security frameworks, architecture principles
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with experience preparing executive-level presentations/reports
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying risks/issues and implementing solutions
