Data / Solution Architect - Global B2B company

A leading global organisation is seeking a Data Solution Architect to design and implement cutting-edge data platforms and solutions. This role offers the opportunity to influence mission-critical systems while driving innovation, scalability, and reliability.

Key responsibilities:

As a Data Solution Architect, you will play a key role in shaping enterprise-wide data strategies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and resilient solutions.

Reliability & Observability Design

• Establish observability standards for data platforms (logging, metrics, alerting) and ensure implementation via tools like Azure Monitor and Grafana; design self-healing architectures with clearly defined RPO/RTO
• Partner with Infrastructure during critical incidents to deliver architectural guidance and conduct data-focused root cause analysis (RCA)

Leadership & Governance

• Lead the implementation of DataOps practices with a focus on automating testing, deployment, and data quality controls

Data Architecture & Strategy

• Define and drive the data architecture roadmap, delivering target-state blueprints aligned with business goals; lead logical and physical data modelling to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance across Silver/Gold layers
• Establish standards for ETL/ELT, data governance, and lineage; conduct technical reviews and health checks to ensure high-quality, compliant data delivery

DataOps & Platform Design (The "Bridge" Function)

• Infrastructure Liaison: Translate data requirements (compute, storage, security) into detailed technical specifications for implementation via Terraform/IaC
• Code Review: Review Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Ansible) deliverables to ensure alignment with data workload requirements
• CI/CD Strategy: Architect and oversee Azure DevOps pipelines, ensuring automated testing, version control, and seamless deployments
• Containerisation Strategy: Define Docker/Kubernetes deployment strategies, including scalability and networking requirements for Infrastructure provisioning

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you should have extensive experience in cloud-based solution architecture and data engineering within large-scale IT environments.

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with 7+ years of IT experience combining Data Engineering and Cloud/Solution Architecture
• Proven experience as a technical lead or liaison between development, infrastructure, and platform teams
• Strong Azure expertise in Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, and Data Lake Gen2, including integration with networking concepts such as private endpoints
• Solid knowledge of data architecture, including data modelling, SQL optimisation, and modern patterns (Lakehouse, Mesh, Medallion)
• Ability to interpret Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) for effective collaboration and code review with SRE/Infrastructure teams
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins), Kubernetes, and Git-based version control strategies
