My Client is a global leader in the steel industry, they are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Officer to join their dynamic Global team, based in Hong Kong. As part of a supportive and knowledgeable team, you will play a crucial role in upholding company’s reputation for excellence by managing supplier relationships, maintaining robust quality management systems, and providing technical expertise across multiple regions.

What you'll do:

As a Quality Assurance Officer, you will be instrumental in safeguarding the integrity of products sourced from leading steel suppliers across Asia. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with procurement teams as you audit supplier's facilities, oversee product testing regimes, manage non-conformance cases, and ensure that every batch meets stringent internal standards. You will design and implement quality management systems that not only comply with ISO 9001 but also drive ongoing improvements in process efficiency and risk mitigation.

  • Maintain and enhance a comprehensive quality management system that aligns with ISO 9001 standards or is capable of achieving compliance as required by the business.
  • Coordinate specific product testing activities and provide technical support for customer complaints, product conformance verification, and non-conformance management.
  • Develop and deploy robust quality assurance programmes and auditing systems tailored for suppliers within the global procurement network.
  • Lead value chain alignment initiatives to ensure internal and external customer requirements are fully integrated into product control processes.
  • Administer certification processes for material compliance while supporting the maintenance of ISO 9001 status if accreditation is pursued.
  • Collaborate closely with the procurement team to develop service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), procedures, and work instructions that underpin effective quality management.
  • Represent company in liaison with internal business units as well as external suppliers on matters related to product quality management systems.
  • Coach colleagues on best practices in quality system tasks while modelling company’s core values of safety, customer focus, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

What you bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering, metallurgy or a related discipline provides you with the foundations knowledge required for this role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing quality systems within manufacturing operations or third-party testing houses ensures you can hit the ground running.
  • Practitioner-level qualifications in root cause analysis (certificates or equivalent) enable you to systematically address complex quality issues.
  • Experience developing and deploying comprehensive quality assurance programmes demonstrates your ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Certification or practical experience in non-destructive testing techniques enhances your ability to verify product conformance effectively.
  • Fluency in both Chinese and English allows you to communicate seamlessly with regional suppliers as well as global colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across China, and potentially other locations to ensures you can maintain close oversight of supplier performance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills mean you excel at building collaborative relationships across diverse teams while promoting shared goals around safety and quality.
