Legal Counsel (PRC)

A financial services organisation in Hong Kong seeks a Legal Counsel to join its Risk Control Team, supporting legal, regulatory compliance, and risk management functions.

Key responsibilities:

As Legal Counsel, you will provide regulatory and compliance legal support across SFC matters, fixed income products, governance, contracts, risk, and overseas expansion.

• Regulatory Compliance: Manage SFC licensing, ongoing reporting, and cross-border regulatory research to support overseas expansion
• Fixed Income Product Advisory: Support product R&D; draft and review agreements, term sheets, and related legal documents
• Corporate Governance: Advise on restructuring and governance enhancements, improving frameworks and decision-making processes
• Legal Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate key contracts to mitigate risk and protect legal interests
• Risk Control & Assessment: Conduct compliance reviews, monitor risks, and deliver assessments with mitigation recommendations
• Cross-functional Support & Execution: Handle ad hoc legal, compliance, and risk projects as assigned

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you bring experience from leading law firms or financial institutions with expertise in SFC compliance, financial products, fixed income documentation, and corporate governance.

• Education & Qualifications: Law degree (LLB/JD) and PCLL; PRC qualified solicitor
• Work Experience: 5+ years in regulatory compliance or financial products from a law firm or financial institution
• Language Skills: Strong English and Mandarin, with excellent Chinese legal drafting skills
• Core Attributes: Self-motivated, adaptable, team-oriented, and able to multitask under pressure
