Risk Manager

A leading financial services firm seeks a Risk Manager in Hong Kong to oversee private markets risk, partner with senior stakeholders, and excel in a high-impact, growth-driven team.

Key responsibilities:

As Risk Manager, you will oversee private markets risk across Asia, challenge deals, collaborate with investment teams, and uphold global standards in a high-impact environment.

• Lead independent risk reviews and provide sign-off on new investment proposals for Investment Committees
• Serve as the primary risk partner for internal stakeholders, balancing independence with practical guidance
• Oversee ongoing risk management of Asia alternatives portfolios, including periodic reviews and reporting
• Collaborate with investment teams and global IRM colleagues to enable robust challenge, timely decisions, and continuous improvement
• Analyse financial information and contribute to local and global risk initiatives, supporting senior Risk Managers and the Board as needed

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you bring proven alternative investment risk experience, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, global adaptability, and a commitment to rigorous standards.

• Advanced degree (MA/MS required; MBA, CFA, FRM, or equivalent preferred) with focus on finance or risk management
• 7+ years’ experience in investment risk management, preferably with exposure to portfolio management and alternative investments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with deep understanding of financial risk management practices; ESG and climate risk knowledge a plus
• Proactive, influential, and collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to challenge and partner effectively
• Culturally adaptable and comfortable operating in a diverse, international, matrix organisation
