This role is the regional lead for the function and sits between the Head of Fund and Investment Administration and the Manager, Fund & Investment Operations. The role is accountable for end-to-end operational delivery across the region, ensuring the timely, accurate and compliant execution of all investment and fund operations activities.

Role expectations: Protect BAU delivery and control cut-offs; standardise and embed controls before automation (incl. AI); follow global standards with local exceptions only where required; and build scalable team capability through clear ownership and talent development. The Manager ensures ownership of improvements and routes complex change through agreed channels.

Key responsibilities:

As Regional Manager, you will oversee regional fund operations, controls, instruments, and regulatory requirements, while leading the team, managing third-party providers, and escalating key risks and incidents to the Head of Fund and Investment Administration.

Regional delivery accountability & performance management

  • Own regional Fund & Investment Operations outcomes (service, controls, incidents, client impact) and escalate key risks/issues
  • Lead prioritisation and capacity planning across BAU, incidents and change, balancing deadlines, risk and cost
  • Monitor KPIs/SLAs, risk indicators and exceptions, and deliver concise governance reporting
  • Drive standardisation and automation (incl. AI) to improve scalability, control and reduce manual work

Leadership, governance & decision rights (Manager as 2IC)

  • Define decision rights, escalation paths and ensure 2IC authority in Manager’s absence
  • Lead governance forums and cross-functional trade-offs to protect risk, resilience and client outcomes
  • Build team capability via cross-training, succession planning and clear ownership

Service provider governance & cross-functional stakeholder leadership

  • Manage service providers to contractual, outsourcing and regulatory standards with structured reviews and KPIs
  • Partner with BlackRock (Aladdin) on service cadence, issue escalation and platform enhancement
  • Drive global consistency with Head of Fund & Investment Admin and support effective handover across teams
  • Lead incident escalation and remediation, ensuring root cause fixes and control improvements
  • Partner with FO, Product, Tech, Risk/Compliance on safe and timely change delivery

Risk, controls, regulation & operational resilience

  • Own regional control environment, ensuring effective controls, evidence and continuous improvement
  • Embed regulatory and market requirements across processes and outsourced activities
  • Maintain operational resilience through runbooks, coverage, dependency mapping and scenario testing

Continuous improvement, automation & transformation support

  • Own improvement backlog aligned to global standards with minimal local variation
  • Drive automation and AI-enabled transformation with measurable efficiency and risk benefits
  • Ensure OMS/Aladdin stability, configuration effectiveness and ongoing enhancement with vendor
  • Oversee change readiness, testing, cutover and BAU embedding

People leadership

  • Lead team via 2IC, driving accountability, performance culture and service excellence
  • Develop talent through skills planning, training and cross-skilling
  • Ensure strong coverage, succession and key-person risk mitigation

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you bring experience in fund operations, strong Asia fund and regulatory knowledge, proven BAU leadership with strong risk control, and a track record of driving automation.

Experience

  • Proven leadership in regional investment operations or fund administration within an asset manager, custodian or fund administrator
  • Track record as accountable owner of regional BAU outcomes, including service quality, incidents and control environment
  • Experience in Asia fund operations, including Hong Kong requirements and close collaboration with regional front office teams (e.g. FSSA Equities, Asia Fixed Income)
  • Strong understanding of Asia fund structures, especially Hong Kong and Singapore Unit Trusts; MPF and private assets exposure is a plus
  • Experience managing managers and building team capability, coverage and talent effectiveness
  • Proven ability to drive standardisation, automation (incl. AI) and embed operational change into BAU with measurable outcomes

Technical competence

  • Strong understanding of the investment and fund lifecycle, including NAV/valuation, IBOR integrity, and operational risk controls across jurisdictions
  • Strong governance and stakeholder management, with ability to set direction, manage trade-offs, and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders under pressure
  • Proven ability to drive standardisation and automation with controls-by-design and data/MI to evidence quality, efficiency and risk reduction
  • Strong operational resilience focus, including third-party oversight, scenario readiness, and mitigation of key-person and process dependencies

Client focus

  • Outcomes-focused, balancing client experience, risk and efficiency with end-to-end ownership of issue resolution and prevention
  • Builds trusted stakeholder and provider relationships, especially with Affiliate Investment Teams, ensuring clear communication on risks, timelines and performance
  • Drives continuous improvement through simplification, standardisation and automation to enhance service and scalability
