Precious Metals Trader

A financial institution seeks a Precious Metals Trader in Hong Kong to execute global trades, drive strategy, and build client relationships in a high-performing team.

Key responsibilities:

As Precious Metals Trader, you will execute complex trades, manage portfolios, build client relationships, and drive strategy in dynamic markets.

• Execute OTC and exchange-traded precious metals trades (COMEX, SGE, and SHFE), ensuring accurate, timely execution across wide range of products (spot, forwards, swaps, physicals, and structured loan)
• Support trading across commodities, FX, and equity derivatives, ensuring responsiveness to client needs
• Lead precious metals trading book and team, ensuring strong risk control, compliance, and operational efficiency
• Drive returns via arbitrage and flow strategies, leveraging market insights and disciplined execution
• Develop business plans, build client relationships, analyse trends, and pursue growth opportunities

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you bring proven precious metals trading experience, strong market analysis, regulatory knowledge, technical skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Economics or related field; advanced qualifications/certifications a plus
• Strong analytical skills with ability to translate insights into actionable strategies
• In-depth knowledge of Hong Kong and Mainland China’s regulatory and market environments for precious metals
• Effective under pressure with strong teamwork, fluent communication (English & Mandarin), and collaboration skills
• Results-driven mindset with coding skills (e.g., Python) as an advantage
