An organisation is seeking a hands‑on Accountant to independently manage the full accounting function for its Hong Kong subsidiary of a German multinational group.

This is an execution‑focused, sole‑charge role suited for candidates with strong SME experience and comfort reporting directly to overseas headquarters.

About the company:

A Hong Kong sales and distribution subsidiary of a well‑established German group, operating in the B2B manufacturing and trading space. The Hong Kong office is compact, with approximately 9 employees, and works closely with regional customers while reporting into Germany.

Role overview:

This is a sole‑charge Accountant position responsible for the full finance and accounting function of the Hong Kong entity. The role is highly hands‑on and execution‑driven, with no team management responsibilities.

The position reports directly to Group Finance / Controlling in Germany, with a dotted reporting line to the local General Manager.

Key responsibilities:

Financial & Group Reporting

• Prepare full sets of management accounts on a monthly basis
• Handle group reporting to German headquarters in accordance with group timelines and standards
• Manage general ledger, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and intercompany reconciliations

Statutory Accounting & Compliance

• Perform month‑end and year‑end closings in compliance with HKFRS
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for statutory audit and tax filings
• Ensure compliance with Hong Kong profits tax and regulatory requirements

Payroll & Administration

• Process monthly payroll for approximately 9 staff and prepare related journals
• Handle MPF contributions, IR56 forms, and other statutory payroll filings

Budgeting & Support

• Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasts
• Provide financial support and analysis to HQ and local management as required

Candidate profile:

• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• No CPA qualification required (but if have, will be a plus)
• 6–10+ years of hands‑on accounting experience, preferably in SME or small office environments
• Proven experience managing full‑set accounts independently
• Sound knowledge of Hong Kong accounting standards, payroll, MPF, and tax compliance
• Experience in trading, sales, or distribution companies is an advantage
• Comfortable working autonomously and reporting to overseas headquarters
• Proficiency in English; Cantonese and/or Mandarin required for local operations
• ERP system experience (e.g. Kingdee or similar) is a plus
