Finance Director, APAC (Project & Ops) | 1.2 Mil

A leading organisation seeks a Finance Director, APAC (Projects & Operations) in Hong Kong to build and scale finance functions, strengthen controls, and drive regional performance.

Key responsibilities:

As Finance Director, you will build and lead the finance function, embed controls, drive project accounting and performance, and partner regionally to support strategic decisions.

Build & Lead APAC Finance Team

• Establish and scale the APAC finance function, including hiring, team structure, and performance management
• Foster a high-performance culture underpinned by strong controls, clear processes, and accountability

Project Accounting & Commercial Finance

• Design and implement robust project accounting frameworks (costing, revenue recognition, margin tracking, inter-entity billing)
• Partner with delivery and commercial teams to review project P&Ls, forecast profitability, and proactively manage risks and opportunities

APAC Accounting Operations & Controls

• Oversee month-end close, balance sheet integrity, statutory reporting, and internal controls across multiple APAC entities
• Standardise policies, processes, and systems (ERP, consolidation, reporting) to ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance

Planning, Forecasting & Performance

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning in alignment with Group strategy and regional P&L owners
• Deliver insightful management reporting, KPIs, and financial analysis to drive data-led decision-making

Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management

• Act as a trusted finance partner to APAC leadership, providing strategic and commercial insights
• Collaborate closely with Group FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Legal on regional and cross-border initiative

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you bring APAC finance leadership, project accounting (IFRS) expertise, strong controls, and stakeholder partnering skills.

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA / ACCA / CA or equivalent preferred
• 10+ years of finance experience, including 5–7 years’ regional APAC role experience within an MNC
• Proven track record in building and leading finance teams, with strong expertise in project accounting / IFRS revenue recognition and APAC accounting operations
• Advanced ERP/data analytics skills and excellent stakeholder management abilities
