Technical Business Analyst (Finance & Accounting System)

An exciting opportunity awaits experienced Technical Business Analysts to join a leading Finance & Risk Solutions team in Hong Kong. This role bridges finance and IT, focusing on workflow automation, data transformation, and regulatory reporting.

Key responsibilities:

As a Technical Business Analyst – Finance and Accounting Systems, you will play a critical role in delivering technical solutions that enhance efficiency and compliance across financial operations.

Requirement Gathering & Analysis

• Partner with stakeholders to gather complex business and accounting requirements and define effective solutions
• Translate business needs into clear functional specifications while conducting data analysis to validate business cases and improve efficiency
• Support the design and implementation of sustainable solutions that deliver long-term business value

System Design & Workflow Automation

• Analyse, configure, and develop automated regulatory reporting solutions using in-house platforms
• Design workflows to optimise finance and risk reporting processes while supporting SIT and UAT activities
• Provide Level 3 business support by resolving production issues and handling regulatory reporting user queries efficiently

Documentation & Communication

• Maintain accurate design documentation, including technical/functional specifications, user guides, and data dictionaries
• Facilitate user workshops and stakeholder communication to gather feedback, refine solutions, and align project goals and timelines

Process Reengineering & Data Transformation

• Perform data modeling, process automation, and support system design and development initiatives
• Utilise advanced Excel, SQL, and data transformation tools to generate reports and resolve system issues efficiently

Project Management Support

• Coordinate cross-functional inputs to ensure project milestones are delivered on time and within budget constraints
• Proactively escalate risks and issues to prevent delays and mitigate operational impact
• Document project progress and facilitate steering committee meetings to ensure alignment and effective governance

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you should have a strong background in financial systems, technical expertise in data transformation tools, and excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between business users and IT teams.

• Hands-on experience with advanced Excel, SQL, Python, Alteryx (preferred), or similar data transformation tools
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail, lateral thinking, and effective problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven stakeholder management capability
• Self-driven team player with strong ownership, able to deliver under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 5+ years’ experience in Banking/Financial Industry (Finance/Risk/IT preferred)
• Solid understanding of banking regulations (Basel III/IV), IFRS 9, accounting principles, front-to-back system flows, and exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies (PMP/Scrum certification is an advantage)
