Data Architect – Reputed Investment Bank

A prestigious investment bank in Hong Kong is seeking a Data Architect to join its IT Data team, focusing on building a scalable, AI-ready data foundation that supports enterprise analytics and machine learning initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

In this role, you will design and govern enterprise-wide data architecture frameworks that enable scalable analytics, reporting, and machine learning capabilities across the organisation.

Data Architecture and Modelling

• Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data warehouses and data marts, enabling scalable and consistent data structures across the organisation
• Define and enforce data standards, modelling conventions, and reusable architectural patterns, while supporting the development of datasets for analytics, BI, and machine learning use cases

Data Platform and Governance

• Utilise metadata management, lineage tracking, cataloguing, and data governance tools to ensure transparency, traceability, and effective control of enterprise data assets
• Support data quality controls, governance workflows, and documentation activities, including modelling outputs and technical data platform records

Data Engineering and AI Enablement

• Apply data profiling and mining techniques to identify quality issues and enhance data model design and reliability
• Support the integration of AI and machine learning capabilities within the data warehouse, ensuring compatibility with downstream pipelines and feature stores
• Contribute to AI-driven initiatives such as automated metadata classification and data optimisation to improve overall data efficiency and usability

ETL and Cloud Data Platforms

• Provide architectural guidance for ETL/ELT pipeline design and optimisation to ensure efficient, scalable data processing
• Design and manage data flows across on-premises systems, cloud platforms, and data warehouse environments to enable seamless integration
• Support cloud migration initiatives through data mapping, validation, reconciliation, and the promotion of secure, scalable cloud architecture best practices

Collaboration and Governance

• Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver effective data solutions while supporting governance processes such as lineage management, catalog updates, and access controls
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including data dictionaries and architectural records, to ensure clarity, consistency, and knowledge sharing across teams

Candidate profile:

You are an experienced data professional with strong expertise in enterprise data architecture, governance, and cloud-based solutions within complex environments such as financial services.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture, preferably within financial services
• Strong understanding of data architecture principles, including schema design and integration patterns
• Hands-on experience with data modelling tools, SQL-based transformations, and ETL/ELT pipeline development
• Exposure to cloud data warehouse platforms, along with basic knowledge of data visualisation, data mining, and machine learning concepts
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving environments
