Footwear Designer - Lady Shoes

Job Requirements:

  • Collaborate closely with the partner based in Beijing to understand specific market needs and translate them into compelling footwear designs for ladies’ dress, boots, casual, sandal, and athletic categories.
  • Design collections specifically tailored to China and Pan Pacific markets such as Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan, and Beijing by researching trends and consumer preferences unique to each region.
  • Ensure all designs meet China-centric requirements while maintaining the integrity of the global brand identity through careful selection of materials, hardware, and construction methods.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the international design team to align regional products with the main line’s aesthetic direction and seasonal trends.
  • Expand the current product range by leveraging existing constructions where possible and developing new concepts when necessary to address evolving market demands.
  • Utilise established factory relationships to streamline production processes and ensure high-quality outcomes that reflect both efficiency and craftsmanship.
  • Participate in regular feedback sessions with internal teams and external partners to refine designs based on commercial performance and customer insights.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of design specifications, material choices, and technical drawings to support seamless communication between design, production, and marketing teams.
  • Contribute ideas for future collections by staying attuned to emerging fashion trends within the ladies’ footwear sector across Asia-Pacific regions.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in footwear design with a strong portfolio focused on ladies’ shoes across multiple categories including dress shoes, boots, casual styles, sandals, and athletic footwear.
  • Fluency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin) is essential for effective communication with regional partners and internal teams.
  • A university degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline provides a solid foundation for creative problem-solving within this specialised field.
  • Demonstrated ability to research market trends within China and Pan Pacific regions to inform commercially successful product development strategies.
  • Proven track record of collaborating within multicultural teams to deliver cohesive collections that respect both local nuances and global brand guidelines.
  • Experience working directly with factories on material selection, prototyping, sampling processes, and quality assurance ensures smooth project execution from concept through production.
  • Strong interpersonal skills enable you to build dependable relationships with colleagues across functions including marketing, sales, production, and supply chain management.
  • Excellent organisational abilities allow you to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail in technical documentation.
  • A passion for continuous learning keeps you updated on new technologies in footwear manufacturing as well as shifts in consumer preferences.
