Exciting career opportunities at Robert Walters

Carina Szeto is a Client Services Director at Robert Walters, managing three client partnerships across APAC. Carina reveals what it’s like to work in an RPO environment and why she loves working for Robert Walters.

What is your current role?

I worked for a recruitment agency predominantly recruiting finance and insurance professionals for 11 years before moving into an in-house global talent acquisition role within the property industry. Robert Walters is my first experience with an RPO. I started as an Account Manager with Nomura working on early career recruitment. I then side-stepped into two different accounts and was then promoted to Client Service Manager, then to my current position. I currently manage several client partnerships across seven countries.

What does a typical day look like?

Each day is completely different. I might deal with our client stakeholders to define strategic sourcing and hiring plans one morning, move to quarterly reporting in the afternoon, with multiple check-ins with my regional recruitment teams during the day. I enjoy the variety of my role and the challenge of helping us continue to innovate and hire smarter and faster for our clients.

Robert Walters gives you plenty of opportunities to get involved in company initiatives, and I sit on the regional D&I council and am a member of our employee wellness committee which enables me to help craft our people agenda in the region.

How do you find the culture of Robert Walters?

Very multicultural. I get to talk to people in multiple countries, daily. It is a close-knit team, a family really. Even if you are on-site in a small team, you feel included and part of the team. People genuinely care about each other and will support you when you ask for help. It’s okay to voice your opinion and be transparent. Your concerns are taken on board and actioned.

If someone was thinking of joining Robert Walters what would you make sure they know?

When you join Robert Walters, you are joining a much larger family. There is an amazing opportunity to move domestically – across accounts or teams, and internationally – across countries and regions if you are open to the challenge. The company ensures we do not lose good talent to competitors and Management has weekly calls to ensure employees have opportunities they seek in their career development plans.
