This role will oversee all legal, governance, compliance, and regulatory matters, acting as a trusted advisor to senior management and the Board. The successful candidate will combine strong legal judgement with sound commercial acumen and the ability to operate in a regulated, stakeholder‑rich environment.

Detailed Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the organisation’s legal function, providing high‑quality legal advice across all business activities
- Act as a trusted legal advisor to senior management and the Board on governance, regulatory, and risk‑related matters
- Oversee all corporate governance matters, including Board and committee support where applicable
- Manage legal risk, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and statutory requirements
- Advise on contracts, procurement, property‑related matters, disputes, and external counsel management
- Liaise with regulators, government bodies, and external stakeholders on legal and compliance issues
- Develop and implement legal policies, frameworks, and internal controls to support organisational objectives
- Lead, mentor, and develop internal legal team members (where applicable)
- Support major strategic initiatives, transactions, and projects from a legal and risk perspective
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with solid post‑qualification experience, ideally gained from both private practice and in‑house roles
- Proven experience in leading legal, governance, or compliance functions within complex or regulated organisations
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, regulatory frameworks, and risk management
- Demonstrated ability to operate confidently at Board and senior management level
- Sound commercial judgement with a pragmatic and solutions‑oriented approach
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
