Legal Counsel (Gaming Regulations)
Our client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Legal Counsel with a speciality in gaming regulatory and compliance. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to influence strategic decisions within the gaming industry across the EMEA region. Based primarily in Hong Kong or the United Kingdom, this position will include travelling.
What you'll do:
As a Legal Counsel in the Gaming Industry, your role will be pivotal in advising on a full range of gaming regulations across the EMEA region. You will be responsible for drafting and implementing compliance measures, managing external counsel, and providing legal support to senior managers. Your expertise will be crucial in dealing with submissions to gaming regulatory authorities, including obtaining new licenses. Your understanding of wider gaming-related legal issues such as intellectual property and anti-money laundering compliance will be invaluable.
- Advise senior management on gaming laws, rules, and regulations in one or more EMEA jurisdictions.
- Draft and implement required compliance measures to mitigate risks.
- Deal with submissions to gaming regulatory authorities, including making applications for new licenses.
- Advise on wider gaming-related legal and compliance issues such as intellectual property and anti-money laundering compliance.
- Manage external counsel and other professional service providers.
- Provide legal support to senior managers as needed.
What you bring:
As our ideal candidate for the Legal Counsel role, you bring a wealth of experience from your 6-8 years PQE gained at a law firm and/or in-house. Your strong understanding of gaming regulations, licensing, and compliance sets you apart. You are qualified in an EMEA jurisdiction or commonwealth qualified, holding a Juris Doctor (JD), Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal degree from a top-tier university. Your proficiency in English and Mandarin, with Cantonese being a strong plus, enables you to communicate effectively across diverse teams. Your proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously demonstrates your commitment to delivering results.
- 6-8 years PQE gained at a law firm and/or in-house.
- Strong understanding of gaming regulations, licensing, and compliance.
- Qualified in an EMEA jurisdiction or commonwealth qualified.
