Java Developer

A prestigious investment bank is seeking experienced Senior Java Developers to join their Hong Kong team, offering you the chance to work on a transformative new platform at the forefront of financial technology.

This role requires expertise in Java development, distributed systems, enterprise frameworks, cloud technologies, and integration architecture. You will help build a next-generation platform, driving innovation while ensuring best practices, scalability, usability, and strong user experience.

Working with global stakeholders, you will design effective solutions for onboarding and regulatory platforms while contributing across the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, and continuous improvement within an agile environment.

Key responsibilities:

As a Senior Java Developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering a next-generation onboarding and regulatory platform.

• Lead development of a new platform, ensuring best practices and coding standards
• Collaborate with global teams and stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions
• Design and build enterprise systems using Java, Spring, microservices, and open-source technologies
• Develop event-driven, domain-led architectures using messaging technologies such as Kafka and MQ
• Engineer high-performance transaction processing and robust database solutions for large-scale data
• Build intuitive user interfaces and support cloud deployment through DevOps and CI/CD practices
• Drive continuous improvement across agile delivery, innovation, and development processes

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you will bring extensive experience in Java development, microservices architecture, and event-driven designs.

• 8-12 years of hands-on experience in Java development and open-source server-side technologies
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework, microservices architecture, enterprise integration patterns, event/message-driven architectures (MQs, Kafka), object-oriented design principles, SQL and document databases, and UI technologies including ExtJS/JavaScript
• Proven experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles
• Familiarity with internal cloud deployments; partial exposure to external cloud environments is a plus
• Passion for high-quality engineering and solving complex problems efficiently
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with distributed teams across the globe
• Self-starter mindset with leadership capabilities and team-oriented goals
• Hands-on experience designing high-performance, transaction-intensive systems and scalable enterprise platforms handling large data volumes
• Practical knowledge of domain-driven design principles with exposure to complex, enterprise-scale architectures
