Key responsibilities:

You will oversee laboratory operations and drive operational excellence across environmental and construction testing activities while supporting team collaboration, compliance, and performance improvement initiatives.

• Lead daily laboratory testing operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures
• Foster a collaborative and safety-focused laboratory environment that promotes accuracy, teamwork, and operational excellence
• Develop and enhance laboratory policies, procedures, and workflows to improve efficiency and service delivery
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and mentoring initiatives to drive staff development and team capability
• Manage laboratory resources including equipment, materials, and workforce planning to maintain efficient operations and project timelines
• Analyse operational performance metrics and data trends, preparing reports and insights to support management decision-making
• Partner with cross-functional teams including quality assurance, health & safety, and client services to ensure consistent testing outcomes
• Resolve operational issues proactively while promoting compliance, continuous improvement, and a culture of inclusivity and collaboration

Candidate profile:

You will bring strong leadership experience in regulated laboratory environments, combined with technical expertise, people management capabilities, and a passion for operational excellence and inclusive culture development.

• Proven experience managing laboratory operations within regulated environments and overseeing complex testing workflows
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to foster an inclusive and team-oriented culture
• Solid knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies, quality assurance standards, and industry regulations
• Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities while maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and compliance
• Demonstrated commitment to staff development through mentoring, coaching, and training initiatives
• Analytical mindset with experience interpreting performance data to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency
• Experience in resource management, operational problem-solving, and maintaining health & safety standards within laboratory environments
