A leading global firm is seeking a Senior Engineer Assistant Manager for Data Centre operations in Hong Kong to oversee mission-critical infrastructure, ensuring 24/7 operational excellence while fostering compliance, safety, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities:

As Senior Engineer Assistant Manager, you will lead the engineering services required to maintain optimal data centre performance.

  • Deliver 24/7 mission-critical data centre operations ensuring 100% uptime, SLA compliance, and full operation, maintenance, and repair of all critical systems within a high-availability environment aligned with CBRE standards
  • Maintain continuous utilities operations (power, cooling, water, gas, drainage, waste, and cleaning), ensuring resilience, sustainability, optimal efficiency, and monitoring of capacity and PUE performance
  • Lead incident management, troubleshooting, investigation, and resolution of complex technical issues, including escalation to senior management, while maintaining strong client communication, EHS/CARE reporting, and audit readiness
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance via CMMS, ensuring timely execution, closure of work orders, supplier coordination, invoice validation, and adherence to SLAs and maintenance agreements
  • Manage change control processes including switching, isolation, permits, and risk assessments, ensuring full compliance with SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and HV authorisation requirements
  • Support lifecycle asset management, including CAPEX/OPEX planning, equipment replacement strategies, infrastructure upgrades, and coordination of minor works and improvement projects
  • Supervise and develop technical teams, ensuring training, performance management, on-call coverage, and effective resource planning to maintain uninterrupted 24/7 operations
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards through inspections, hazard reporting, contractor oversight, and enforcement of safe working practices and CBRE operational culture

Candidate profile:

To excel in this role, you will bring extensive experience in managing critical facilities within high-availability environments.

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting 24/7 data centre or critical facilities operations, with 3+ years in mission-critical environments within the critical services industry
  • Valid Electrical Licence and Unrestricted Supervisor Electrical/Mechanical qualification, with HV Authorised Person/Operator certification (where applicable)
  • Strong technical competence in building services including UPS, generators, static switches, water treatment, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems
  • Solid understanding of permit-to-work systems, technical drawings, operational procedures, and compliance frameworks in critical environments
  • Proven leadership ability to supervise, motivate, and direct technical/engineering teams in high-pressure, 24/7 operational settings
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all organisational levels and clients
  • Confined Space entry trained (where required), with strong focus on safety, risk awareness, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and performance-driven, with good customer relationship management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and English communication (preferred)
