A leading financial institution seeks an Algorithmic Trading Java Developer in Hong Kong to transform automated risk trading platforms and drive innovation in algorithmic trading, hedging, and market-making.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and optimise low-latency Java trading systems that automate algorithmic trading, market-making, and risk hedging across Asia-listed equity markets
  • Partner with quantitative analysts and traders to integrate pricing models and execution algorithms into scalable trading platforms
  • Optimise platform performance by resolving architectural bottlenecks and tuning JVM and Linux environments for high-volume trading
  • Develop Java-based trading applications, leveraging Angular, JavaScript, or TypeScript to support seamless trading workflows
  • Own the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from solution design and agile delivery to deployment and production support
  • Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, technical best practices, and collaborative problem-solving to deliver resilient trading solutions

Candidate profile:

  • Bring 5–8 years’ software engineering experience in financial services, specialising in high-frequency trading, electronic trading, or real-time risk management platforms
  • Demonstrate advanced Core Java expertise in UNIX/Linux environments, with strong capabilities in JVM tuning, garbage collection, and OS-level performance optimisation
  • Apply strong knowledge of institutional equity trading, including algorithmic trading, delta-one products, central risk books, and automated execution platforms
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Angular or TypeScript to support the development of integrated trading applications
  • Thrive in agile engineering environments, with experience delivering software through continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices
  • Exhibit strong communication and stakeholder management skills, collaborating effectively with global teams to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes
