What you'll do:

As Technical Manager Platform and Network Security, you will take ownership of integrating advanced security controls into every layer of the organisation’s technology stack. Your day-to-day activities will involve close collaboration with architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and cyber security leadership to ensure that all platforms—whether on-premises or cloud-based—are protected by industry-leading defences. You will proactively monitor the effectiveness of these controls through rigorous analysis of metrics and reporting while identifying opportunities for continual improvement. By governing firewall configurations, managing intrusion detection systems, overseeing web application firewalls, and ensuring seamless integration with the Security Operations Centre for real-time threat detection, you will help maintain a resilient digital environment. * Embed platform and network security controls into the architecture and design of all platforms and networks used within the organisation to ensure robust protection against cyber threats.
* Monitor the effectiveness of existing platform and network security controls and services, ensuring they operate as intended to safeguard critical assets.
* Continuously identify gaps in control coverage and propose improvement initiatives to enhance the overall Platform and Network Security service, especially in areas involving new or emerging technologies.
* Ensure that all platforms—including classic infrastructure, virtual machines, containers, cloud environments—as well as email and web gateways have appropriate security measures implemented for threat prevention.
* Oversee the management of firewall rules and configurations, including IDS/IPS signatures, web application firewall settings, DDoS mitigation strategies, and API security protocols.
* Support the provision of detailed platform and network security metrics, regular reports, and service highlights to both IT teams and business stakeholders for informed decision-making.
* Collaborate with Cyber Security Management by undertaking additional duties as assigned to support organisational objectives.
* Actively participate in fostering a diverse and inclusive culture built on trust and respect by modelling collaborative behaviours across teams, divisions, and departments.

What you bring:

To excel as Technical Manager Platform and Network Security you will bring substantial experience gained from working within complex enterprise environments where platform resilience is paramount. Your background should include hands-on involvement with securing endpoints, servers, virtualised resources, containers, public/private clouds as well as email/web gateways. You are adept at translating technical requirements into practical solutions that address real-world risks while maintaining alignment with broader business objectives. Your approach is grounded in empathy for end users’ needs combined with an unwavering commitment to ethical conduct. You thrive when collaborating with others—sharing insights generously—and are comfortable presenting findings or recommendations to diverse audiences. * Hold a degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a related discipline which provides a strong foundation for understanding complex technical environments.
* Possess five years or more experience working within the Platform & Network Security domain across various disciplines such as endpoint protection, virtualisation security or cloud defences.
* Demonstrate deep familiarity with Platform & Network Security services including operating procedures required for effective risk mitigation.
* Exhibit a service-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering customer-centric solutions that align with business needs.
* Showcase excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate effectively across teams while communicating complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Maintain high standards of professional competence with proven integrity in handling sensitive information responsibly.
* Have hands-on experience with Endpoint/Server Security (Anti-Malware & Endpoint Detection/Response), Virtualisation Security tools, Container Security solutions as well as Cloud Security best practices.
* Display proficiency in managing Web & Email Security Gateways along with Firewall Governance (including IDS/IPS), Web Application Firewalls/DDoS protection mechanisms, and API Protection strategies.
* Hold one or more industry-recognised certifications such as CISSP or CISM which validate your expertise in information security.
