Director / Senior Director IT Audit / AI for Global Insurance

A prestigious global insurance group is seeking a Director IT Audit and Artificial Intelligence to lead its IT audit function across the Asia-Pacific region.

This role focuses on modernising audit practices, embedding data-driven methodologies, and strengthening risk governance across complex multi-entity operations. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to provide forward-looking insights on emerging technology risks, including AI, cloud transformation, and cybersecurity.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing regional IT audit team, driving capability building, performance management, and succession planning
• Prepare and present clear, impactful Audit Committee and board-level reporting on key technology risks and audit insights
• Own and execute risk-based IT audit planning across Group and entities, leveraging data-driven approaches to optimise audit coverage
• Define and continuously evolve the IT audit universe, incorporating emerging risks such as cloud transformation, cybersecurity, and AI adoption
• Act as a trusted advisor to CIO, CTO, CRO, and senior leaders, providing independent challenge on risk, controls, and remediation strategies
• Build strong cross-functional partnerships across first and second lines of defence to strengthen overall risk governance and control environments
• Deliver independent assurance across IT governance, cybersecurity, IT operations, infrastructure, and cloud environments globally
• Drive audit transformation through enhanced methodologies, reporting frameworks, and continuous improvement of audit quality and stakeholder experience
• Lead adoption of data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled audit techniques while ensuring regulatory alignment and providing forward-looking risk insights

Candidate profile:

• 12–18+ years of IT audit experience, with strong exposure to insurance or financial services environments
• Proven track record in leading regional or multi-country IT audit teams with effective people management and development
• Deep expertise in IT governance frameworks, risk management practices, and IT general controls (ITGCs)
• Strong experience overseeing large-scale IT transformation and change programmes within complex organisations
• Demonstrated ability to influence and engage C-suite executives and Audit Committee stakeholders with clarity and impact
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to provide independent challenge on risk and control matters
