Buyer - Cheese / Fresh / Chilled Food
As a Buyer – Cheese, you will be entrusted with curating an exceptional selection of cheese products that delight customers while meeting rigorous quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive buying plans that introduce new merchandise aligned with overall business strategies and market trends.
- Work closely with vendors to negotiate terms, conditions, pricing, and resolve purchase ordering issues while fostering dependable supplier relationships.
- Recommend competitive retail prices for assigned categories by analysing market data and internal sales performance.
- Proactively source innovative cheese products while ensuring strict adherence to established quality standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to facilitate engaging brand and product promotion activities as well as design effective visual merchandising guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels, track sales performance, assess damage and loss ratios, and propose actionable improvement plans based on findings.
- Investigate customer complaints thoroughly and recommend remedial actions to prevent recurrence of similar issues in future.
- Support cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency within the delicatessen category.
- Stay updated on industry developments, competitor activity, and emerging consumer preferences to inform strategic decisions.
Requirements
- A university degree coupled with at least eight years of merchandising experience within retail or FMCG sectors, ideally focused on fresh or chilled products such as cheese.
- Demonstrated business acumen supported by excellent negotiation skills that enable you to secure advantageous agreements with suppliers.
- Exceptional analytical capabilities allowing you to interpret complex sales data and translate insights into actionable buying strategies.
- A proactive approach combined with strong interpersonal skills that foster positive relationships both internally across teams and externally with vendors.
- Outstanding communication abilities in both written and spoken English and Chinese to ensure clear understanding across diverse stakeholders.
- Understanding of an European language would be a plus.
- Proficiency in handling multiple tasks efficiently under tight schedules while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail at all times.
- Advanced numerical analysis skills paired with creative problem-solving abilities that contribute to effective decision-making processes.
- Solid command of PC applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, enabling you to manage documentation and reporting requirements seamlessly.
