Quality Engineer - Construction Material, Steel

Save job

My client is seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer to join their dependable and knowledgeable team. This is an exciting opportunity for you to play a vital role in upholding the highest standards of quality across all stages of steel production, ensuring that every product meets rigorous industry and client specifications.

What you'll do:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust quality control systems specifically tailored for steel cutting and bending processes within the factory environment.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and comprehensive testing of raw materials, in-process items, and finished steel components to ensure full compliance with both industry standards and specific client requirements.
  • Analyse detailed quality data sets, identify emerging trends or recurring issues, and recommend effective corrective actions aimed at enhancing overall product quality as well as process efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams by providing guidance and support to address any quality-related concerns while driving continuous process improvements throughout the operation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to relevant international standards such as ISO 9001 along with local construction industry regulations through diligent monitoring and documentation.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and detailed quality reports alongside essential documentation required for both internal reviews and external audits.
  • Train, mentor, and guide production staff on established quality control procedures as well as best practices to foster a culture of shared responsibility for product excellence.
  • Participate actively in cross-functional meetings to discuss ongoing quality initiatives, share insights from data analysis, and contribute ideas for further enhancements.
  • Support root cause analysis investigations following any non-conformance events or customer feedback by applying proven methodologies such as Six Sigma or SPC.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all quality assurance activities while ensuring transparency and traceability throughout the entire production lifecycle.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Materials or related field) demonstrating a solid technical foundation relevant to steel manufacturing processes.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in quality assurance or control within construction materials industries—ideally with direct exposure to steel manufacturing or processing environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of steel properties along with familiarity regarding standardised testing methods and key industry benchmarks such as ASTM or AISI guidelines.
  • Proficiency in utilising recognised quality control tools including Six Sigma methodologies, Statistical Process Control (SPC), root cause analysis techniques, and other data-driven approaches.
  • Experience implementing or maintaining compliance with internationally recognised standards like ISO 9001 as well as local construction regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex data sets accurately while communicating findings clearly both verbally and through written reports.
  • Familiarity with Cut & Bend steel processes would be considered advantageous but is not essential if you bring strong transferable skills from similar sectors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration across diverse teams coupled with a genuine commitment to nurturing positive working relationships.
  • Strong organisational abilities allowing you to manage multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising attention to detail or accuracy.
  • A proactive approach towards continuous learning combined with enthusiasm for sharing knowledge through training sessions or informal mentoring.
