Paralegal - hedge fund (Japanese speaker)

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support for Japan-based engagements and strategic investments for the investment teams in Tokyo and Hong Kong.
- Act as the litigation manager for Japan, coordinating and managing litigation matters, including appraisal rights cases.
- Handle routine legal tasks such as daily advice, basic drafting (NDAs, POAs, shareholder notices, document requests, etc.).
- Assist the compliance function with Japanese market compliance matters and tasks.
- Manage KYC/AML requests from counterparties and oversee due diligence processes for trading counterparts and vendors.
- Facilitate the account opening process for trading-related accounts and services for all funds and SPVs.
- Organize and maintain corporate documents and records for all management company and fund entities, coordinating with external law firms.
- Prepare and maintain records for board meetings and internal committee meetings (Tech & AI, Compliance, Risk, etc.).
- Draft, review, and coordinate board resolutions and transaction documentation, including NDAs and vendor agreements.
- Complete placement letters and IPO forms.
- Coordinate with banking and trading partners for portal access and maintain tracking sheets for permissions and cash control.
- Maintain lists of authorized accounts and counterparties.
- Explore and facilitate the application of AI technology in daily operations.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties to support the Legal, Compliance, Operations, Finance, and Investor Relations teams.
Requirements:
Ideal candidates will hold a law degree with at least two years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department. Proficiency in Japanese (native level) and English (fluent) is required, while knowledge of Mandarin or Cantonese is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to multitask, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with technology and AI tools is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is expected, and the candidate should demonstrate a proactive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to take on diverse responsibilities.
