SVP, Credit Risk Management

Our client, an international banking group, is looking for a SVP, Credit Risk Management for their team expansion.

As an SVP Credit Risk Approver, you will provide independent credit approval and risk governance for property investment-related corporate banking exposures in Hong Kong. You will challenge underwriting assumptions, ensure decisions align with risk appetite and credit policy, and oversee robust monitoring and documentation quality for income-producing real estate risks.


Key Responsibilities

  • Credit Approval / Independent Challenge

    • Approve or decline complex property investment credit proposals within delegated authority.
    • Provide independent challenge to underwriting/front office and ensure decisions are defensible and audit-ready.
  • Property Investment Underwriting Oversight

    • Assess borrower strength and corporate structure (including group/related-party risks).
    • Validate asset cash-flow assumptions: lease quality, tenant credit, occupancy, lease expiry profile, vacancy and arrears.
    • Evaluate repayment capacity supported by income durability and downside resilience.
  • Valuation, Collateral & Security Review

    • Review valuation approach and key drivers (cap rates/yield, market rents, vacancy assumptions).
    • Ensure security package (where applicable) is properly documented, enforceable, and aligned with credit terms.
  • Structure, Covenants & Risk Mitigation

    • Assess appropriateness of LTV/coverage/structural protections and ensure risk compensation is adequate.
    • Review covenant frameworks and trigger events suited to property investment performance deterioration.
  • Monitoring & Early Warning

    • Oversee watchlist and early warning escalation for rental/occupancy deterioration, tenant stress, and near-covenant breaches.
    • Support portfolio governance and recommendations for intervention, restructuring, or credit actions.
  • Governance & Documentation Excellence

    • Ensure credit memos, stress tests, assumptions, and approval records are complete and consistent.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in corporate banking credit risk / underwriting / portfolio risk / credit governance.
  • Bachelor's degree from a relevant discipline
  • FRM, CFA preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise with property investment credits (income-producing real estate exposures).
  • Proven background in independent credit decisioning and governance.
