Senior QA Officer (Mining Industry)

A leading global mining and manufacturing group seeks a Senior Quality Assurance Officer in Hong Kong to strengthen supplier quality, ensure product compliance, and drive procurement excellence across Asia.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of ISO 9001-compliant quality management systems, strengthening quality governance across steel and hi-chrome procurement
  • Own supplier quality assurance across Asia by planning and conducting audits, driving corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and SLAs
  • Oversee product testing programmes, including non-destructive testing, to ensure materials consistently meet technical specifications and customer requirements
  • Drive the resolution of product quality issues by leading investigations, implementing corrective actions, and enhancing supplier performance and product conformance
  • Serve as the technical quality advisor to global procurement and cross-functional stakeholders, providing expertise on steel, hi-chrome, and alloy quality assurance
  • Standardise quality processes by developing QA procedures, work instructions, documentation, and audit schedules while supporting new supplier qualification and onboarding
  • Partner with business leaders, metallurgists, and technical teams to analyse supplier performance, align quality strategies with operational objectives, and drive continuous improvement

Candidate profile:

  • Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Quality Management, or a related discipline, with experience in the steel, foundry, or heavy manufacturing industry
  • Proven experience developing and managing quality management systems and QA programmes within large-scale industrial or procurement environments
  • Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing, alloy casting, metal processing, and supplier quality management
  • Hands-on experience with root cause analysis (e.g. Six Sigma) and non-destructive testing (NDT); relevant certification is an advantage
  • Exposure to manufacturing operations, foundries, or third-party testing laboratories, with experience conducting supplier audits and driving continuous improvement
  • Fluent in English and Chinese, with the ability to collaborate effectively across international teams and supplier networks
  • Willingness to travel extensively across China and other Asian markets to conduct supplier audits and manage quality performance
