Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A leading direct-to-consumer wellness brand is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team in Hong Kong or Southern China.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the end-to-end development of innovative home wellness products, from concept design through to manufacturing and market launch, while collaborating with international design teams and regional suppliers. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality consumer products that enhance everyday wellbeing.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the mechanical design and development of consumer products, creating and refining 2D and 3D CAD models using Onshape and other design tools while ensuring compliance with tooling, DFM, and manufacturing requirements
• Define technical specifications, engineering standards, and CAD best practices, including parts libraries, file management, revision control, and release processes
• Drive hands-on prototyping activities through sample reviews, 3D printing, proof-of-concept development, and iterative testing to validate form, fit, function, and manufacturability
• Conduct product testing, validation, and user evaluations to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and customer requirements before production
• Support the full product development lifecycle from concept through production handoff and continuous improvement, working closely with industrial designers to preserve design intent and contribute to CMF development
• Develop and optimise packaging structures through internal prototyping and collaboration with packaging suppliers to enhance product presentation and protection
• Act as the primary engineering liaison with manufacturing partners and suppliers, leading DFM reviews, root cause investigations, quality improvements, engineering change management, and NPI activities
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, presentations, and project updates while facilitating communication between global design, engineering, project management, and supplier teams to ensure alignment throughout development.

Candidate profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Automation, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or product development
• Strong proficiency in CAD software, including Onshape (preferred), SolidWorks, Creo, or Fusion 360, with the ability to develop production-ready designs
• Proven experience leading products through EVT, DVT, and mass production, with expertise in injection mould tooling, DFM optimisation, and manufacturing processes
• Hands-on prototyping experience using 3D printing, model making, and physical validation techniques to rapidly test and refine product concepts
• Extensive knowledge of consumer product materials and manufacturing processes, including plastics, injection moulding, glass components, packaging, and consumer electronics
• User-centred design mindset with the ability to evaluate product interactions, functionality, and overall user experience throughout the development lifecycle
• Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical decisions to cross-functional and external stakeholders
• Experience working with US or EU organisations, fluency in technical English and Mandarin, and willingness to travel up to 50% across Southern China to support suppliers and manufacturing partners
