VP, Senior Java Software Engineer – Equity Derivatives

Lead high-performance Java engineering for front-office equity derivatives trading in Hong Kong.

A global financial institution is seeking a VP, Senior Java Software Engineer to design and deliver low-latency technology supporting real-time trading. You'll combine hands-on Java engineering with technical leadership, working closely with front-office stakeholders to build scalable, resilient trading applications.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development and maintenance of Java-based front-office trading applications
• Translate complex trading requirements into scalable, high-performance technical solutions
• Lead projects from requirements through delivery while remaining hands-on with Java engineering
• Enhance quoting applications through observability, production monitoring and root-cause analysis
• Drive engineering standards across quality, security, reliability and compliance
• Work closely with front-office teams to continuously improve critical trading technology

Candidate profile:

• 10+ years’ hands-on Java / Core Java engineering experience
• Experience building low-latency or real-time trading systems
• Strong front-office technology experience within financial markets
• Experience with Oracle, Linux, scripting, Agile and object-oriented design
• Experience or strong knowledge of equity derivatives, including Warrants, Listed Options, Futures, Market Making or market connectivity
• Ability to combine hands-on engineering with technical and project leadership
