Electronic Trading Support Engineer (Linux/Python, Contract)

A leading investment bank seeks an Electronic Trading Support Engineer in Hong Kong to support APAC equities and derivatives trading systems, driving performance, automation and trader satisfaction.

Key responsibilities:

• Support Equities and Derivatives trading applications across APAC, maintaining reliable performance across Windows and Linux environments
• Provide direct production support to traders, diagnosing and resolving functional and technical issues to minimise disruption
• Manage daily incidents and user requests, coordinating with development teams to resolve issues and address system defects
• Contribute to business- and exchange-driven projects, supporting requirements, system testing, deployments and application upgrades
• Monitor trading system performance and follow ITIL-based incident and change management practices to maintain operational stability
• Enhance automation and support processes while maintaining documentation to improve system resilience, efficiency and uptime

Candidate profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, with 1–2 years’ experience in trading application support
• Strong knowledge of cash and derivatives products, market regulations and trading application environments
• Experience with system monitoring tools, Linux/Unix environments and batch scheduling systems (preferred)
• Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting, with familiarity with TCP, UDP and FIX network protocols
• Proactive and results-driven, with strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving abilities
• Innovative and collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and fluency in English
