Business Analyst (FS Background, English Speaker) - Contract

A leading financial institution is seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst with a strong background in private equity or asset management to join their team in Hong Kong.

The ideal candidate will play a critical role in analysing business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting strategic decision-making. This position requires a strong understanding of the private equity and asset management industries, as well as excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Key responsibilities:

Business Analysis & Strategy Support

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges, and objectives within the private equity and asset management domains
• Analyse market trends, portfolio performance, and operational data to provide actionable insights
• Develop financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support investment decisions and strategic planning

Process Improvement & Optimisation

• Evaluate existing workflows, systems, and processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement
• Recommend and implement process improvements to optimise operations across various stages of the investment lifecycle, including deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring

Data Management & Reporting

• Gather, analyse, and interpret large datasets related to fund performance, investor reporting, and portfolio companies
• Design dashboards and reports to communicate key metrics and insights to internal teams and external stakeholders

Technology & Systems Integration

• Work closely with IT teams to ensure the seamless integration of technology solutions tailored to private equity and asset management operations
• Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams during system upgrades and implementations

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with cross-functional teams, including investment professionals, finance, legal, compliance, and operations
• Facilitate workshops, meetings, and presentations to align stakeholders on project goals and deliverables

Candidate profile:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or CFA designation is an advantage
• Experience: 3–5+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role within the private equity or asset management industry
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, as well as SQL and Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualisation tools
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with private equity or asset management software platforms, such as eFront and Investran, is an advantage
