Commodity Operator – Energy [Assistant Manager Grade]

A leading energy trading organisation seeks a Commodity Operator – Energy (Assistant Manager Grade) in Hong Kong to support crude and LNG operations, strengthening asset protection, compliance, and commercial performance.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage crude and LNG contract and charter party obligations, coordinating with traders to ensure compliance and SOE asset protection
• Identify and execute optimisation opportunities across spot contracts, mitigating off-spec cargoes, vessel delays, and other contractual risks
• Coordinate post-deal operations with oil and freight partners, terminals, vessel operators, agents, and inspectors to ensure timely execution
• Manage oil and vessel nominations, vendor verification, and trading data across operational, compliance, and trading systems
• Oversee cargo volume reconciliations, claims, demurrage disputes, payment terms, quality matters, and settlement approvals to protect commercial interests
• Maintain audit-ready transaction records while supporting SOE operational improvement projects and driving workflow optimisation across crude and LNG trading

Candidate profile:

• Experience in oil or freight operations, with SOE process exposure considered an advantage
• Understanding of crude/LNG pricing mechanisms, energy commodity markets, and trading workflows
• Exposure to trading operations, including cargo volumes, quantity agreements, disputes, and contractual matters
• Strong stakeholder management skills across traders, partners, terminals, vessel operators, agents, and inspectors
• Excellent organisation, prioritisation, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex documentation and accurate trading data
• Commercially astute and adaptable, with strong communication, collaboration, SOE compliance awareness, and composure under pressure
