Trade Support / Operations - Hedge Fund

A specialist investment organisation seeks a Trade Support / Operations professional in Hong Kong to work closely with traders, prime brokers and external counterparties across the trade lifecycle.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of critical post-trade and operational processes while gaining broad exposure to trading activity, portfolio data, risk controls and investment operations.

Key responsibilities:

In this role, you will support the trading and investment operations function across the full trade lifecycle, ensuring accurate execution support, timely resolution of exceptions and reliable portfolio and position data.

• Check all new, revised or cancelled staged orders
• Confirm borrow availability and rates ahead of traders going short
• Verify that Pay-to-Hold is booked correctly in the system and communicate current positions and rates
• Compile positions by prime broker and counterparty to review portfolio composition
• Correspond with brokers to resolve trade (pre-settlement) breaks
• Keep traders updated on upcoming corporate actions and market events
• Ensure systems are up to date with exchange fees, bank holidays, commission and fee rules, etc.
• Work in OEMS and PMS to: Maintain and clean trade data while assisting with projects involving OEMS and PMS vendors and outsourced traders
• Compile and/or review daily risk report alerts based on instructions from the risk team
• Check various reports from prime brokers and take action based on priority
• Assist the team in supporting trade lifecycle discussions with external parties
• Assist with the equity and swap trade affirmation process with external third parties
• Review and confirm all non-equity and OTC trades
• Assist in compiling and reviewing various daily files for P&L and trade reporting
• Reconcile PB cash, positions and stock borrow (shapes, rates and cash)
• Review MSFS cash and position records with PBs and OMS and PMS
• Assist with setting up new investment products, brokers, prime brokers and custodians
• Automate current processes using macros, AI tools, Power Automate, VBA or another approved format

Candidate profile:

• 2–7 years’ experience in an operations or trade support role at a bank, broker or hedge fund
• Experience with a finance OMS (Order Management System) and PMS (Portfolio Management System) is preferred, such as Broadridge, Eze, Enfusion or SS&C Advent Geneva
• Curious and proactive, with a strong focus on improving process and project efficiency
• Confident communicator
• Proficient in Excel and comfortable with using coding tools or AI-assisted coding to support other applications
