Senior Trader

A leading global hedge fund seeks a Senior Trader in Hong Kong to partner with Portfolio Managers on best execution across equities, convertible bonds, fixed income, FX and volatility products, covering Pan-Asia and US markets.

The role offers broad multi-asset exposure, portfolio and financing ownership, and opportunities to contribute to trading technology, automation and AI.

Key responsibilities:

• Partner with Portfolio Managers to deliver best execution across multiple asset classes, with a strong focus on equities
• Provide market coverage across Pan-Asia and US markets, bringing timely market colour, insights and intelligence to investment teams
• Monitor opportunities and deal pipelines while supporting hedging, FX exposures and portfolio risk management
• Drive portfolio financing activities across securities lending, liquidity, leverage and repo trading
• Build and maintain strong relationships with sell-side brokers and market counterparties
• Contribute to strategic initiatives across front-office technology, automation, AI and trading infrastructure
• Identify opportunities to improve execution, portfolio support and the broader trading function

Candidate profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or a related discipline
• Around 8–12 years’ experience in trading or execution, preferably within a buy-side equities, fixed income or FX environment
• Strong equities experience with a solid understanding of market microstructure, execution strategies and regional market conventions
• Exposure to fixed income, FX and derivatives is advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive mindset, strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Proficiency in Bloomberg and advanced Excel; Python, SQL or R experience is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
