General Manager (Sports & Recreation, NGO)

We are seeking a visionary, growth-minded senior leader to drive the overall direction, operations, and strategic expansion of recreation and facilities managment. Reporting directly to Executive Leadership, you will helm a multi-site portfolio, lead cross-functional teams, and turn community-focused sports and recreational programs into high-impact, sustainable operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Vision & Growth: Formulate and execute multi-year development roadmaps that elevate facility engagement, modernize program offerings, and align services with evolving community demand.
  • Commercial & Partnership Development: Drive brand expansion by cultivating strategic relationships with corporate allies, commercial sponsors, and philanthropic partners to secure alternative revenue streams and funding.
  • Operational & Financial Excellence: Exercise full operational, financial, and administrative oversight. Lead budget preparation, resource allocation, risk management, and governance across all facilities and programs.
  • Governance & Advisory Support: Serve as the key advisor to steering committees and executive boards, delivering clear reporting, strategic insights, and governance alignment.
  • Stakeholder & Sector Relations: Act as the primary liaison with public sector authorities (including municipal leisure and cultural services departments), NGOs, and institutional bodies to facilitate cross-sector collaboration and resource allocation.
  • Team Leadership & Culture: Build, mentor, and motivate diverse, high-performing teams. Foster an organizational culture rooted in innovation, accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Key Qualifications & Candidate Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience within a large-scale enterprise, non-profit, or public institution, including at least 5 years in a senior executive/director capacity.
  • Sector Expertise: Prior leadership experience managing multi-purpose recreational centers, athletic complexes, outdoor camps, or hospitality ventures is a major advantage.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated success in long-term strategic planning, revenue generation, brand outreach, and sponsorship/grant acquisition.
  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional executive presence, relationship-building skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin) is required.
