Payroll Specialist (1-Year Contract)

A leading global investment bank seeks a Payroll Specialist (1-Year Contract) in Hong Kong to manage multi-jurisdictional payroll, tax, and accounting activities, supporting accurate operations and global workforce initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

As a Payroll Specialist, you will manage multi-region payroll operations, reporting, controls, and process improvements while supporting compliance and global business initiatives.

• Coordinate and process confidential compensation data across multiple regions, ensuring payroll accuracy and timely reporting
• Prepare internal and external reports, accounting documentation, tax data, and statutory submissions to support regulatory and business requirements
• Maintain strong payroll controls by reviewing, reconciling, and substantiating general ledger balances and ensuring compliance with policies and legislation
• Support new business operations by designing and implementing payroll processes, including new pay entities, tax effectiveness, and benefit programmes
• Partner with global Compensation Accounting teams and external payroll vendors, document processes, resolve discrepancies, and contribute to global projects and continuous improvement

Candidate profile:

• 2–3 years’ relevant experience in Big 4 Individual Income Tax, Human Capital / Global Mobility, or reputable payroll service providers/agencies handling complex payroll operations
• Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, with strong analytical foundations and experience in general ledger posting and account reconciliation
• Strong understanding of individual income tax regulations and benefit programme administration; multi-jurisdictional tax exposure is advantageous
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation; Mandarin fluency preferred, with additional languages beneficial
• Meticulous, responsible, and detail-oriented, with strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines accurately
