A leading financial services institution is seeking for an experienced Java Developer in Kowloon to enhance front office equity trading systems, driving strategic trading and post-trade technology initiatives.

Key responsibilities

As a Java Developer in Kowloon, you will develop and enhance front office equity trading systems, working on the Cash Equities platform to build out strategic trading and post-trade capabilities while translating business needs into reliable, well-controlled solutions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will support strategic technology initiatives and ensure the stability of mission-critical trading platforms.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain front office trading systems for the Equity desk
• Collaborate with internal IT staff and business users for system implementation and requirement gathering
• Support day-to-day system usage and ensure operational efficiency by implementing regular controls
• Work closely with development and project management teams on strategic initiative
• Minimise operational failures through effective testing practices in an Agile development environment

Candidate profile

To excel in this role, you bring solid banking technology experience in building resilient trading systems, along with strong programming expertise. Dependable under pressure, you collaborate effectively across teams and are committed to continuous improvement.

• Strong experience in IT development within the banking industry
• Proficient in programming languages such as Java, SQL, Python, Kafka, KDB, Shell Scripting, Unix, JavaFX, C#, ReactJS, Redis, and ZMQ
• Strong knowledge of banking standards like the FIX protocol and best practices in testing for Agile environments
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills with a strong team spirit
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams to deliver high-quality solutions
