Smart Contract Engineer- Financial Services; PERM role

As a Smart Contract Engineer based in Hong Kong, you will play a pivotal role in shaping next-generation decentralised applications by leveraging your deep understanding of blockchain protocols.

  • Designing, developing, testing, and deploying robust smart contracts on various blockchains such as Ethereum, Solana, or other EVM-compatible networks to support innovative decentralised solutions.
  • Building and maintaining decentralised applications (dApps) along with related backend services that enable seamless user experiences within the blockchain ecosystem.
  • Auditing, optimising, and documenting smart contracts to ensure they meet high standards of security, gas efficiency, and maintainability for long-term reliability.
  • Staying up to date with emerging trends in blockchain technology by researching new protocols, best practices, and advancements relevant to smart contract engineering.
  • Collaborating closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and fellow developers to define requirements, design features, and deliver impactful new functionalities.
  • Participating actively in code reviews and security assessments while troubleshooting complex issues related to blockchain integrations or vulnerabilities.
  • Integrating smart contracts with web frontends and off-chain systems using APIs and oracles to create comprehensive end-to-end solutions.
  • Contributing to open-source initiatives by sharing code improvements or participating in community discussions as part of broader engagement within the crypto space.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field; advanced degrees are considered an asset for this role.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience in blockchain development with proven expertise in designing and implementing smart contracts for production environments.
  • Proficiency in Solidity and/or Rust programming languages; familiarity with Vyper, Go or other blockchain-oriented languages is highly desirable for expanding project scope.
  • Comprehensive understanding of blockchain protocols including consensus mechanisms, token standards (ERC-20/721/1155), Layer 2 solutions, DeFi architectures, NFTs and DAO infrastructures.
  • Experience working with web3 libraries such as ethers.js or web3.js as well as frameworks like Hardhat, Truffle, Brownie or Anchor for streamlined development workflows.
  • Strong grasp of cryptographic principles underpinning secure smart contract design along with awareness of common vulnerabilities such as reentrancy attacks or integer overflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to audit codebases for security risks while optimising gas usage without compromising maintainability or readability.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and version control systems like Git for effective team collaboration on complex projects.
  • Excellent analytical thinking combined with problem-solving abilities that enable you to address technical challenges efficiently while communicating clearly within cross-functional teams.
