Senior Data Engineer/Tech Lead (Azure) – Tech Retail

A fast-growth TechRetail group seeks a Senior Data Engineer/Tech Lead (Azure) in Hong Kong to build scalable data warehouse and analytics platforms, driving BI strategy and multi-country growth.

Key responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer/Tech Lead, you will architect and deliver Azure-based data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, lead GenAI initiatives, set engineering standards, and align scalable data platforms with international business growth.

• Architect and implement multi-country data warehouse solutions in Microsoft Fabric, defining ETL/ELT strategy and scalable data models
• Develop advanced Power BI dashboards, complex DAX calculations, high-performance SQL queries, and robust data pipelines for international reporting
• Lead technology innovation, including infrastructure scalability enhancements and POCs leveraging LLM and GenAI capabilities
• Provide technical leadership through mentorship, code reviews, engineering standards, and resolution of complex data quality and performance issues
• Partner with commercial stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable, well-governed dashboards and automated executive reporting

Candidate profile

To excel in this role, you bring Azure cloud expertise, advanced SQL and dimensional modelling skills, strong ETL/ELT and Power BI (complex DAX) experience, cloud warehousing knowledge, and proven technical leadership in multi-country environments.

• 4–7 years’ data engineering experience within modern cloud environments
• Expert SQL and dimensional data modelling skills, including slowly changing dimensions
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools (Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, or similar)
• Proficiency in cloud data warehouses (e.g., Azure Synapse, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar)
• Strong Power BI expertise with advanced DAX, performance optimisation, and automated data pipeline orchestration
