What you'll do:
As a Data Scientist based in Hong Kong, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the analytics team throughout the entire project lifecycle. What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Junior Data Scientist position brings proven academic credentials or equivalent practical experience in quantitative fields such as statistics or computer science. Your background includes at least three years spent applying advanced analytical techniques within varied industry settings—experience in Retail or Telecom would be particularly beneficial but not essential. You are comfortable handling complex datasets from multiple sources using modern machine learning methods alongside traditional statistical approaches. Your proficiency extends beyond technical skills: you are adept at communicating intricate concepts clearly so that stakeholders across departments can appreciate the value of your work. Experience with deep learning technologies like NLP or computer vision further enhances your profile. Familiarity with distributed computing platforms (Hadoop) and cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP) ensures you can operate efficiently within contemporary digital infrastructures. Above all else, your collaborative approach enables you to connect meaningfully with colleagues from both technical and non-technical backgrounds—helping drive collective progress towards shared goals.
* A master’s degree or PhD in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or any related quantitative field; equivalent working experience is also acceptable.
* At least three years of experience working in a data science capacity within any sector; prior exposure to Retail, FMCG, Property or Telecom is considered advantageous.
* Strong technical understanding of Martech concepts including personalisation strategies and marketing automation tools is preferred.
* Extensive experience solving analytical issues using quantitative approaches such as machine learning methods along with advanced statistical techniques.
* Comfort analysing large-scale high-dimensional datasets from multiple sources using sophisticated data mining methods.
* Proficiency in mathematics, statistical analysis, pattern recognition techniques, predictive modelling methodologies as well as coding abilities in Python or R.
* Experience working on Deep Learning projects such as NLP (Natural Language Processing), computer vision applications or neural networks is desirable.
* Familiarity with distributed computing tools like Hadoop plus experience operating within cloud environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
* Excellent communication skills enabling you to tailor technical messages for diverse audiences leading to improved decision making across the business.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including IT, engineering, product design and non-technical departments.
