Production Director - Pharmaceutical
As Production Director, you will be entrusted with steering the entire production function towards operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive development plans for the Production Department aligned with strategic business objectives to ensure sustainable growth and market competitiveness.
- Continuously enhance management systems within the Production Department by implementing best practices in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines and industry standards.
- Oversee all daily operations of the Production Department, building lean operational systems that prioritise safety, quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Lead initiatives focused on quality control and safety management throughout the production process to guarantee compliance with regulatory requirements and internal benchmarks.
- Drive cost control measures by optimising production processes, increasing efficiency, and reducing overall production costs without compromising product integrity.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, supply chain, and quality assurance to ensure seamless integration of new products into existing workflows.
- Mentor and guide sizable teams within the department, fostering a culture of cooperation, shared responsibility, and continuous improvement among staff members.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, quality metrics, safety incidents, and cost savings to inform decision-making and drive ongoing enhancements.
- Champion Total Quality Management (TQM), Lean Manufacturing principles, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies across all levels of production operations.
- Ensure effective communication between local teams in Hong Kong and international subsidiaries to maintain consistency in standards and share best practices.
Requirements:
- More than 10 years’ experience in production management within large-scale pharmaceutical companies is required for this position; your background should include at least 5 years managing sizable teams or departments.
- Extensive hands-on knowledge of solid dosage or liquid formulation production processes is essential for success in this role.
- Demonstrated familiarity with advanced management systems such as Total Quality Management (TQM), Lean Manufacturing techniques, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements along with up-to-date awareness of relevant industry guidelines is necessary.
- Proficiency in both English and Chinese languages is required; additional understanding of Cantonese would be considered advantageous for effective communication within diverse teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills are needed to foster collaboration across departments as well as mentor junior staff members towards shared goals.
- A proven track record in implementing cost optimisation strategies without sacrificing product quality or safety standards is expected from ideal candidates.
- Experience working within multicultural environments or coordinating between international sites will be beneficial for this global-facing role.
- Strong analytical abilities combined with attention to detail are crucial when monitoring KPIs or troubleshooting complex production challenges.
