A leading shipping and logistics company seeks a dependable Operations Manager, Shipping in Hong Kong to manage dry bulk vessels, foster stakeholder relationships, and maximise voyage profitability.

Key responsibilities

As an Operations Manager in Shipping, you will be entrusted with overseeing the day-to-day operations of dry bulk vessels—both owned and chartered—ensuring their swift turnaround and successful execution of charters. Your responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the operation of owned and chartered vessels, coordinating with stakeholders for successful time and voyage charters
  • Arrange port services, review port agency disbursements, and analyse vessel voyage P&L
  • Provide operational instructions to vessel masters, manage hire statements, freight payments, laytime, and resolve off-hire claims or disputes
  • Maintain, review, and verify all shipping documentation, ensuring accurate record-keeping in the system
  • Monitor vessel performance, address operational issues, and support continuous improvement in shipping processes

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate for the Operations Manager, Shipping position brings proven experience from the maritime sector—particularly dry bulk operations involving time charters or voyage charters. You are detail-oriented, analytical, and thrive in an inclusive environment that values teamwork and professional growth.

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in International Shipping, Transportation Management, Maritime Law, International Trade or Logistics Management is preferred
  • 2–3 years of experience in dry bulk shipping operations involving Time Charters (TC), Time-Charter-Trips (TCT), or Voyage Charters (VC)
  • Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English (verbal and written) is essential for effective international communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with resilience under pressure enable you to navigate complex operational scenarios effectively
  • A commitment to continuous learning ensures you stay updated on industry best practices while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment
