Our client is a prominent, long-established organization in Hong Kong and they are now recruiting a senior level of corporate affairs talent to join and lead the team. This senior leadership role focuses on government relations, public affairs, regulatory stakeholder management, and strategic external communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a small team responsible for government relations, public affairs, media engagement, ESG communications, and key stakeholder initiatives.
  • Direct government and regulatory engagement strategies, including interactions with relevant government bureaus, policymakers, advisory bodies, and regulators to advocate on policy, regulatory, and industry matters.
  • Build, maintain, and leverage high-level, active networks with government/regulatory stakeholders and the Hong Kong media/press to enable proactive dialogue, influence positive outcomes, and manage perceptions.
  • Oversee communications on regulatory submissions, pricing/tariff processes, public consultations, and related strategic matters, ensuring clear, transparent, and persuasive stakeholder and public messaging.
  • Drive ESG-related communications and stakeholder alignment, including sustainability initiatives, reporting, and engagement with regulatory and societal expectations.
  • Manage media relations leveraging established press connections: prepare materials, respond to inquiries, coordinate engagements, brief spokespersons, and secure constructive coverage while handling risks.
  • Support community and social responsibility efforts, particularly programs benefiting vulnerable populations, to strengthen public image and corporate responsibility positioning.
  • Track regulatory, political, media, and public trends; advise senior leadership on risks, opportunities, and crisis handling.
  • Maintain high-quality, consistent bilingual (Chinese and English) messaging in documents, submissions, speeches, and public materials.
  • Lead crisis and issues management across government, regulatory, media, or public domains

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 20 years of relevant experience in public affairs, government relations, corporate communications, media relations, or allied fields.
  • Preferred: Early career in media/journalism (e.g., journalist, anchor, reporter at major Hong Kong outlets), followed by transition to a large corporate or public-sector role building expertise in stakeholder and government engagement.
  • Demonstrated senior-level, active connections within Hong Kong's government/regulatory ecosystem and media/press — critical for this government-intensive position.
  • Exceptional bilingual writing and communication skills (Chinese: Cantonese/Putonghua; English)
