Legal Counsel - retail brand

A retail brand is seeking legal counsel with 3 to 5 years PQE, including at least 1 year of relevant in-house counsel experience.

As a key legal advisor, you will provide strategic, risk-based counsel with a strong commercial focus. Serving as the primary point of contact for the business teams in designated regions, your role will involve offering critical legal support on a wide range of commercial transactions, proactively identifying and mitigating legal risks to ensure all activities align with the corporate risk framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice to various business units and support functions
  • Develop and implement best practices for operations, including vendor management and due diligence, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Conduct legal research related to marketing activities and examine cross-border advertising requirements
  • Collaborate with other counsels to continually monitor risks and enhance group-wide risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with disputes, insurance, real estate matters, and other special projects as they arise.

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer admitted in Hong Kong or a Commonwealth jurisdiction (preferably England and Wales) and holds a current practising certificate, or is a member in good standing of the New York Bar.
  • 3-5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with at least 1 year as in-house counsel.
  • Experience in civil litigation and/or commercial disputes is preferred.
  • Strong drafting skills with attentiveness to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) legal advice with diverse stakeholders, with practical thinking and a commercially sensible risk-based approach to achieve solutions.
  • Capacity to work swiftly and accurately under pressure, with a strong sense of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong sense of teamwork in maintaining legal integrity and transparency.
