Legal Counsel (General Commercial. 5+PQE)

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive legal support and advice, ensuring the company's strict compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This position is based in Hong Kong and will focus primarily on the company's local business, with some exposure to regional work relating to overseas operations.

What you'll do:

As a Legal Counsel, your primary role will be to assist the Group General Counsel in providing comprehensive legal support to the company. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing a wide range of contracts, supporting other corporate functions with contract reviews, and providing expert advice on food labelling and safety standards. Your role will also involve conducting thorough legal research, keeping abreast of changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company. Additionally, you will play a key role in preparing company policies and providing internal training to various business units.

• Assist Group General Counsel in providing legal support and advice
• Prepare and review contracts, including distribution agreements, service agreements, sales agreements, etc.
• Support other corporate functions in contract review and legal advice
• Review food labelling and other documents, advising on food safety and product standards
• Provide practical solutions to business while ensuring strict legal compliance
• Assist in preparing various policies for the company and subsequent implementation
• Conduct legal research and keep up-to-date with laws and regulations
• Provide internal trainings to business units of the company

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Legal Counsel position is a Hong Kong qualified lawyer with 5 to 8 years of post-qualified experience gained in a top-tier law firm or an in-house position ideally within an APAC regional multinational corporation. Experience within the FMCG/food and beverage industry would be beneficial as would experience handling IP related matters. You should possess excellent communication skills coupled with strong time management abilities. Fluency in English and Cantonese is required along with a good command of Mandarin. A positive attitude, self-motivation, discipline, and strong analytical skills are essential for success in this role.

• LLB, PCLL, Hong Kong qualified lawyer
• 5 to 8 years post-qualified experience gained in top tier law firm or in-house position ideally in an APAC regional multinational corporation
• Experience in FMCG/food and beverage industry beneficial
• Experience handling IP related matters beneficial
• Excellent communication skills and time management skills
• Fluency in English and Cantonese; good command of Mandarin
