As an Assistant Manager – Regulatory Compliance and Governance based in Hong Kong, you will play an integral part in ensuring the bank’s operations remain fully compliant with evolving local laws and international standards.

What you'll do:

  • Provide high-quality advice on licensing matters, regulatory communications, tracking of obligations, and general compliance analysis to ensure all activities meet stringent standards.
  • Execute licensing registrations and updates at both institutional and individual levels, facilitating efficient approval processes while maintaining full compliance with local regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments closely and assist in implementing robust tracking mechanisms that enable effective management of all relevant obligations.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders across departments to ensure seamless implementation of regulatory requirements while fostering strong engagement throughout the organisation.
  • Prepare comprehensive management information reports that deliver insightful updates on compliance risks, regulatory changes, and the overall governance landscape.
  • Develop and present impactful reports to management and stakeholders regarding compliance status, governance matters, and recommendations for informed decision-making.
  • Proactively escalate critical regulatory or compliance risks to senior leadership while developing practical solutions accompanied by actionable plans for risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate various global and regional compliance initiatives or projects in partnership with internal teams and group companies, ensuring alignment with broader organisational objectives.
  • Support staff by guiding them through compliance policies and procedures, providing training as needed to promote understanding and adherence.
  • Assist in nurturing a culture of compliance across the organisation by promoting ethical conduct, accountability, and shared responsibility among all employees.

What you bring:

  • Degree holder in Legal, Finance, Business or Accounting with proven experience in compliance roles within banking or financial services environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local laws and regulations related to banking practices in Hong Kong, coupled with sound business acumen.
  • Effective organisational skills enabling you to prioritise tasks efficiently while managing multiple responsibilities under pressure.
  • Ability to work dependably both independently and as part of a collaborative team within high-pressure environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills allow you to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels while fostering positive relationships across departments.
  • Experience in preparing detailed management information reports that provide valuable insights into compliance risks and regulatory changes.
  • Proven track record of supporting staff training initiatives related to compliance policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to promoting ethical conduct throughout the organisation by encouraging accountability and shared responsibility among colleagues.
  • Capacity for proactive problem-solving when escalating critical risks or developing practical solutions for risk mitigation.
  • Willingness to participate actively in global or regional compliance projects as part of a wider network of professionals.
