A prominent international financial markets association is seeking a VP/Director to join their public policy team in Hong Kong. This is a unique opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in shaping public policy across the region, supporting advocacy efforts that impact financial markets and regulatory frameworks.
What you'll do:
You will immerse yourself in a diverse range of responsibilities designed to advance advocacy efforts throughout the region. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with colleagues across jurisdictions to develop impactful public policy strategies that reflect member interests. Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail when tracking regulatory developments, and a genuine commitment to fostering positive relationships within a collaborative environment.

- Shape public policy by providing education or representation on critical issues, maintaining the organisation’s reputation through thoughtful advocacy and communication.
- Research, advise on, and execute public policy strategies that support member priorities, particularly on projects with significant reputational impact if not managed appropriately.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulators to enhance outreach efforts and ensure ongoing dialogue between the organisation and key external parties.
- Attend regulatory agency meetings to track developments, provide detailed updates to senior management and members, and ensure timely dissemination of relevant information.
- Create and update briefing materials for internal teams as well as external contacts to support informed decision-making across all levels of the organisation.
- Establish robust relationships both internally across departments and externally with regulators, committee members, industry groups, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory initiatives by keeping abreast of new legislation, tracking changes in regulations, and ensuring all advances are captured for the public policy team.
- Attend key meetings, briefings, committees, conferences, and regulatory sessions; take concise notes; record outputs; and share insights with relevant parties.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for preparing persuasive briefing papers and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority while interacting credibly across organisational hierarchies is important for building consensus.
- Excellent consultative abilities combined with interpersonal skills enable you to foster trust-based relationships internally and externally.
