Compliance officer - hedge fund

A leading financial services firm operating in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, specializing in hedge fund investment is seeking a skilled and experienced Compliance Officer to join the team.

As the APAC Hedge Fund Compliance Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of compliance within our organization. You will work closely with the Head of Compliance and cross-functional teams to implement and enhance our compliance framework. This position will be based in Hong Kong and report directly to the APAC Head of Compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with key stakeholders to interpret and apply regulatory requirements specific to hedge fund operations in the APAC region
• Monitor and assess regulatory changes, ensuring timely communication to management and relevant teams
• Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate legal and regulatory risks
• Conduct compliance risk assessments and reviews, identifying areas of improvement and implementing remediation plans
• Provide advice and guidance on compliance matters, including applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices
• Perform compliance monitoring and surveillance activities to detect and address potential violations or breaches
• Conduct training sessions and workshops to promote compliance awareness and educate employees on relevant regulations
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities and industry bodies
• Stay informed about emerging trends, developments, and best practices in hedge fund compliance
• Assist in the preparation of compliance reports and presentations for senior management and board meetings
• Collaborate with global compliance teams to ensure consistency and alignment with company-wide compliance objectives

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business, law, or a related field
• Proven experience working in a hedge fund compliance role within the APAC region
• Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and requirements, including but not limited to SFC, and SEC regulations
• Familiarity with hedge fund strategies, products, and operational processes
• Excellent understanding of compliance principles and best practices within the financial services industry
• Solid understanding of anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) regulations
• Fluent English is a must
