This is a newly created position, reporting directly into the Head of Legal.
Responsibilities:
- Providing legal advice to the Wealth business on legal issues and risks arising out of their business in Hong Kong
- Working with other second line of defence functions to identify and manage the risk arising out of the Wealth business in Hong Kong
- Provide proactive and solution-oriented legal and regulatory advice and guidance to internal stakeholders to enable the development and introduction of retail banking products and services (especially, retail investment products);
- Work cross-functionally to identify, analyse and mitigate legal and regulatory risks related to the introduction of new products and services;
- Legal and regulatory risk policies related to the Wealth business in Hong Kong are effectively communicated and adhered to
- Review, draft and negotiate on agreements, terms and conditions, and other legal documents;
- Handle ad-hoc projects from time to time as assigned;
Requirements:
- Qualified to practise in Hong Kong with 5+ years of post-qualification experience practising at a reputable law firm or in-house;
- Sound knowledge in SFO, SFC codes, guidelines, circulars, etc.;
- Able to handle a diverse range of issues
- Detail-oriented, analytical, resourceful and possess good problem-solving skills;
- Good command of written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
