This is a newly created position to support their regional business expansion. Lawyers with trade finance or general banking experience feel free to reach out.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, draft and negotiate agreements and other applicable documentations including transaction specific documentations, term sheets, indemnities and disclaimers and in this connection, work closely with the relevant business team
- Provide legal support to (a) the business functions of the bank in Asia Pacific (particularly, in Hong Kong and Mainland China) and (b) the bank in Asia Pacific (particularly, in Hong Kong and Mainland China) in general (such as reviewing tenancy agreements and service agreements and handling legal and/or regulatory issues (such as those relating to personal data privacy) and also handling any other tasks designated by the Head of Legal, Asia Pacific. There is also an opportunity to take on additional or boarder responsibilities for initiatives to expand the Asia bank platform.
- Work closely with the local legal team and the head office legal team to ensure consistent best practices at work
- Liaise with internal stakeholders in ensuring compliance with internal policies of the bank at all levels
- Follow and digest new legal and regulatory developments affecting the business of the Bank
- Follow market developments to ensure headwinds are tracked and escalated to the Head of Legal, Asia Pacific
Basic Requirements
- Common Law qualified Solicitors
- Minimum 5 years’ PQE, ideally with international law firm and in-house experience with international financial services organisation
- Solid technical banking and finance skill set with experience in trade finance and syndicated lending, experience in loan participation and secondary loan sale is a plus
- Ability to analyse complex legal problems, new business proposition and develop suitable solutions
- Ability to adapt to the different new business initiatives
- Ability to work on matters under limited supervision
- Excellent command of both English and Chinese
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and confident presentation skills
